A teenage boy has been killed in a crash on a Tasmanian highway on New Year’s Day.
Just before midnight on Monday, emergency services were called to the Tasman Hwy in Orielton.
The 16-year-old boy died at the scene.

Police said the crash involved a pedestrian and a vehicle.
The highway remained closed on Tuesday morning while police investigated, and drivers were diverted at Brinktop and Greens Rd.
“Our thoughts are with the boy’s family and loved ones,” Tasmania Police said in a statement.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
